On this Salzburg Special, three popular tours become one unforgettable adventure in the Bavarian Alps, giving you great value for money. In the company of a professional guide, spend a day in the Bavarian Alps, traveling through the Alpenstrasse. In the morning, visit Kehlsteinhaus, known as the Eagle's Nest, Hitler's famous refuge in the mountains. Take the elevator to the top and enjoy the superb view of the Alps from this historic location. Your afternoon will be spent discovering the salt mines and visiting the Bavarian village of Berchtesgaden.
The Eagle's Nest
Leave Salzburg behind on a comfortable coach ride with your guide, and begin your day trip through the Bavarian Alps and along Lake of the Kings. Pass by the Untersberg mountain, filled with legends and myths, and enter Germany through an old border. After criss-crossing the valley of the Alps and passing picturesque farmhouses, you will arrive at the foot of the Obersalzberg, a mountain complex where the Eagle's Nest is located.
Here, board a special coach that will whisk you up the World War II copper lift, which then takes you at full speed to the Eagle's Nest, perched atop the mountain. Enjoy magnificent views of the towering snow-capped peaks of the Bavarian Alps and the surrounding countryside. Here you are a short walk from the cross at the top of the Obersalzberg.
You will have 45 minutes of free time on the Eagle's Nest for lunch at one of the nearby restaurants (own expense).
The salt mines
The second part of your Special Offer begins after lunch. Below the Obersalzberg are the 450-year-old salt mines. Walk in the footsteps of miners after donning traditional mine attire to descend into the caves. Hear fascinating stories and learn interesting facts about this underground world from your guide, then finish your mining adventure with a raft ride on the salt lake and a train ride around the lake.
Your tour continues to Königssee (Lake of Kings), a lake nestled among towering mountains. Stop for a photo opportunity and have free time to explore the surroundings before heading to the quaint Bavarian village of Berchtesgaden. You have some free time to stroll through the charming streets before returning to Salzburg.
