The House of Music (Haus der Musik) is a modern and interactive museum dedicated to sound and music, and is located in the first district of Vienna. Spread over several floors, visitors are invited to make new discoveries and music in a fun way and to actively participate in the museum's exhibitions.
The House of Music received the Austrian Museum Prize for its innovative design and is located in the former Palace of Archduke Charles. The Palace was once the residence of Otto Nicolai (1810 – 1849), who composed the opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and founded the Vienna Philharmonic concerts here. A total of 5000 m² has been reserved exclusively for areas devoted to a wide range of approaches to music, and above all, the experience of music.
Vienna Mozarthaus is a new center devoted to the life and works of Mozart.
Domgasse 5 is the only one of Mozart's apartments that still exists today. The composer lived in the Mozarthaus in Vienna from 1784 to 1787 in high class, with four large rooms, two small rooms and a kitchen. The life and work of the musical genius are presented on four levels of exhibition. In addition to Mozart's apartment, which has been adapted by the Vienna Museum, visitors can learn about the time when Mozart lived and his most important works. The exhibition focuses on his years in Vienna, which marked a high point in his creativity.
The two museums cannot be visited on the same day and the ticket is valid for one entry to each museum in the year.
