This private and ultra-panoramic excursion of the Mother City is ideal for couples, friends or small groups. We will visit the oldest building in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope, and pass by the Town Hall, known for the 'Balcony of Mandela' from where ex-President Nelson Mandela pronounced his first speech after his release from prison in 1990.
Not only will you discover the bustling flower stalls on the main street, but also the cathedral where Bishop Tutu practiced for many years. The tour takes you past the Parliament Buildings and then through the colorful Malay Quarters. The vehicle will then take you to Signal Hill for an aerial view of the Mother City.
The next highlight is a visit to the top of Table Mountain. A revolving funicular allows you to discover the different facets of the city as you reach the top. Beautiful landscapes of the different parts of the city await you during a circular walk on the mountain, before taking the cable car back and returning to the city.
Departure at 9:30 for a visit to the Mother City. We'll set off down the main street Adderley and relive the experience of Portuguese explorers Bartolomeu Dias and Vasco da Gama when they discovered the southern tip of Africa. We will continue to the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in South Africa. A visit to the castle will allow you to discover the "key handover ceremony" at 10:00.-. Military base – in the castle we will visit the military museum and take a look at the William Fehr collection made up of paintings and other remarkable pieces of furniture.
Then we will enjoy an interesting visit to District 6 and its museum (open Monday to Friday) associated with the expulsion of 60 people due to apartheid. The museum exhibits a miniature reconstruction of the old district District 000. We will then discover by vehicle the buildings of Parliament, St. George's Cathedral where Bishop Desmond Tutu had his parish, Greenmarket Square, the old town hall, then the Company Gardens park, where the Dutch East India Company established a vegetable garden to reduce the high rate of scurvy victims.
The very interesting Malay Quarter (Bo-Kaap) will not only give you an insight into the Malay culture of the country, but allow you to photograph the many colorful houses. You will then be taken to the top of Signal Hill. The magnificent city will emerge as we follow the twists and turns of the road to the top of the hill. You will then see paragliders in full flight or can book an excursion. It is also a great place to take photos of Table Mountain.
We will then head to Table Mountain, where you will reach the top by funicular – lunch provided at the top (own expense). You will walk around the mountain and maybe spot a Rock Rabbit (Hyrax). The magnificent flowerbeds of "Fynbos" will be a delight for lovers of flora. There are more plant species on Table Mountain than in the whole of the UK.
After spending about two hours on the mountain, we will head to the top station of the cable car for our return to town. The transfer to the hotel will be around 17:00 p.m.
