Experience a unique and exhilarating hiking and climbing adventure to the summit of Whistler. A "via ferrata" is a vertical path laid out with fixed cables for safety and metal bars to facilitate climbing. Challenge yourself while in Whistler; you'll enjoy exhilarating vistas and a real sense of accomplishment! Suitable for adults and adolescents in moderate physical condition. The visit lasts 3 to 3 hours. No climbing experience is necessary.
Meet your guide 15 minutes before your departure time. Morning excursions depart from Whistler Village; afternoon tours start at the mountain top office near the Roundhouse at the top of the gondola line. The Whistler Gondola ride from the village takes approximately 30 minutes. Anticipate the trip to arrive on time. You will be equipped with your climbing gear at the office at the top of the mountain.
Then you'll hike up a snowy slope or boulder field (depending on the time of year and mountain conditions) as you approach the start of the ascent. At the start of the ascent, you will be at the base of the summit, 260 meters from Whistler Peak. You'll enjoy a short break at Lunch Ledge, a great photo opportunity, before continuing uphill to the summit at 2 meters above sea level.
At the top, you can take the opportunity to take extraordinary and unique photos before descending by chairlift and returning to the office on foot to conclude the excursion.
This ascent takes about 4 hours depending on the conditions, the number of climbers and their level. Please let the office know if your tour needs to end at a specific time so your guides can make arrangements.
Climbing via ferrata does not require any special skills or prior experience. This thrilling activity isn't just for seasoned climbers – any reasonably fit hiker can enjoy it! This mountaintop adventure is subject to variable weather conditions so dress for cooler or wet weather as conditions can change quickly. A backpack to carry extra layers of clothing is recommended.
