Do you really know the South Region (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur)? As well as its 6 departments : Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (04), Hautes-Alpes (05), Alpes-Maritimes (06), Bouches-du-Rhône (13), Var (83), Vaucluse (84)? Several bloggers have decided to reveal their favorite of this region to you. : you will be able to visit towns and their historical heritage, go to different pretty little islands, go on magnificent and improbable hikes, explore and stroll in small villages in the south, or stroll around extraordinary lakes ... just select your preferences!
It must be said that when we arrive at Lac d'Allos, we are immediately captivated by the beauty of the landscape : a lake with turquoise blue water, small green hills and high pointed mountains in the distance… It is both impressive and enchanting!
Be aware that at the very beginning of the season (towards the end of May), sometimes the lake is still partially frozen. A lesser-known face of Lake Allos, which will delight adventurers and photographers ! Also remember to take a walk around the lake to discover the pretty little stone chapel of Notre-Dame des Monts, and meet some marmots.
WARNING : during this period, the approach walk is longer insofar as the access to the Laus car park is closed (i.e. 2h30 of walking one way and no longer 45 minutes)
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, discover the Lac d'AllosFor those who are not satisfied, direction the castle to admire the largest trebuchet in France, travel to the Middle Ages with costumed entertainment or simply admire a fabulous panorama : the Alpilles to the north, the Camargue plain to the south. The best view is obviously at the top of the castle, at the top of the stairs polished by the centuries. Vertiginous, but what a reward!
The castle of Baux de Provence
If it's too hot (or if it's raining ... you never know!), I recommend the Careers of Light, a place of art where you can immerse yourself in paintings projected on the walls of old quarries, are the place to find. Sound and light make for a grandiose spectacle, the programming of which changes every year. Come early to avoid the crowds.
CONSEIL: Les Baux de Provence is 20-30 minutes from Arles. Parking is scarce and expensive at the entrance to the village, but you can park for free along the road at the foot of the hill, at the cost of a short five-minute walk.
