Before going for a walk, attend on the “La Porte des Secrets” show course (must be reserved at the Tourist Office). This immersion in the fairy is a superb introduction. Then set off to explore Brocéliande, choosing one of the many marked steps. The most famous is that of Val sans retour whose Golden Tree marks the entrance. In this narrow valley, Viviane imprisoned unfaithful husbands before they were released by the valiant Lancelot. Another place full of legends: the Barenton fountain and its magic bubbles. Stroll through vegetable gardens
An unusual vegetable garden to discover around Rennes! Les Jardins Rocambole are located in Corps-Nuds, to the south of the city. On nearly 6 square meters, you will be able to discover the plants of the vegetable garden in a different way. This atypical eco-place regularly hosts exhibitions of local artists, but also shows and creative workshops to learn about ecological gardening. An extraordinary place that invites daydreaming and adventure for young and old!
And if you want to pick your fruit and vegetables yourself, head to the Jardins d'Orgères, in the same area. The opportunity to have a good time with family or friends while tasting succulents seasonal products.
Have fun at the Brocéliande Gardens
Located just 15 minutes around Rennes, in the direction of the forest of the same name, the Jardins de Brocéliande welcome you for a day under the sign of the 5 senses. The major attraction of the place lies in its sensory routes : barefoot or blindfolded, try this experience as funny as it is enriching, in an exceptional setting! Plant collections, farm animals, play areas, aquatic clouds complete the picture. Another fun activity is also offered: in the middle of hundred-year-old oaks, a “Parcabout” takes you to the treetops. Visit the Domaine de la Bourbansais
Combining castle, gardens and zoo, the Domaine de la Bourbansais is a place to discover absolutely around Rennes. The main house consists of a castle dating from the 18th century. The ideal is to participate in a guided tour: woodwork, joinery and period furniture offers an interesting testimony to the art of living in the Enlightenment. See the sea in Saint-Malo
Fancy sea air around Rennes? The closest is Saint-Malo, the Corsair City. The old town is surrounded by impressive ramparts, 1,7 km long. By accessing it, in particular from the Saint-Vincent gate, you will have a sublime view of the whole Emerald Coast. Another point of interest: the Grand Bé, located on Bon Secours beach. The climb is a bit sporty, but the view is worth the effort. And to recover from your emotions, why not go and feast on a good pancake in an alley? During the summer period, you can make yourself a invigorating sea bath ! But visiting Saint-Malo out of season can also be a good alternative. The high tides winter are for example very impressive, with waves being able to go up to 13 meters! If you are with your family, this is also the opportunity to have a good time at the Grand Aquarium: ”The ring of the seas” is worth the visit in itself.
Take a walk on the towpaths
Around Rennes are numerous towpaths along the water. The occasion of take to the air in the heart of nature at the gates of the city. Going south, you can for example follow the Vilaine towards the ponds of Apigné. There, you can imagine yourself at the beach and swim in fine weather. Other paths can lead you to the Moulin du Boël, dating from 1652. To the north, take the Ille-et-Rance canal by following the greenway number 2 which goes to Saint-Malo. It is possible toexplore these trails on foot, by bike and even on horseback while taking breaks at the various locks or restaurants.
