Marseille, a weekend by the sea

What better way to discover the city than a walk by the sea? To travel along the coast, I advise you to go to a car rental agency as soon as you arrive at the airport. Indeed, Marseille being the second largest city in France, it is more comfortable to travel there by car.

Arriving from the airport and the coastal highway, you will already have an overview of the bay and the autonomous port. To enjoy this view and be closer to the sea, stop at the Terrasses du Port shopping center. In addition to a shopping spree, this recent infrastructure offers you a terrace that looks like the deck of a boat from which you can enjoy an ice cream in the sun. Crossing the street, go to the Docks, recently rehabilitated, where you will find something to sustain yourself in the heart of the stone alcoves.

On the way ! Direction the southern districts, taking one of the mythical roads of the
city, the Corniche. A walk along the sea which will make you appreciate both the view of the island of Frioul and the Bonne Mère. To immerse yourself in the heart of the small villages of Marseille, make a stop in Malmousque, near the military baths. Escape in the middle of the typical houses of the district and admire the small port, it is worth the detour!
If you like this atmosphere, extend your route to the port of La Madrague then take the Goudes road to enjoy a magnificent sunset from the Baie des Singes.

Before leaving the city, take the time to visit the Calanques. Two options are available to you. The Calanque de Sormiou accessible by Cayolle or the Calanque de Morgiou from Les Baumettes. Do not be discouraged by the small winding roads because your efforts will be largely rewarded by a breathtaking view of each creek and its turquoise waters. You will forget that you are in Marseille.

The next day, take the road to Gineste to go to the small town of
Cassis. This walk will again offer you a splendid panorama of the sea and the forest of Luminy. You will take your eyes off the water to see it again 20 minutes later when you arrive on the heights of Cassis. Take a break in this town that looks like a Provençal village. In addition to the beach, restaurants, ice cream parlors and trendy shops will delight you.

To continue along the coast, follow the Route des Crêtes. This alternative to the highway overlooks the sea up to 400 meters above sea level. Chills guaranteed!
After the town of La Ciotat, take the direction of Saint Cyr sur Mer and Les Lecques, staying on the seaside. These neighboring villages are very popular in the summer, which is why I advise you to go there in low season. to savor a seafood dish on the Lecques beach.
