The small square and its surroundings
The place d'Hackesher Markt
Hackesher Markt is a small square located in the heart of Berlin, close to Museum Island and the Scheunenviertel district.
At the foot of the S-Bahn, the square concentrates many shops and restaurants of all kinds, but especially small markets from which emanates the smell of Berlin specialties, from "currywurst" to "schnitzel".

Markets where you can find second-hand clothes, trinkets, old vinyl records, but also fish, meat, vegetables and spices...
The restaurants are perfect for lunch on the terrace in the sun in the middle of the old trams, and some of them have a splendid view in front of the Berliner Dom, their terrace extending into the lawn: charming!
The place d'Hackesher Markt
On the side of Grosse Hamburger Strasse, stop to admire the Sophienkirche (Saint Sophia Church), a Baroque-style building with its wrought iron gate.
From there, we walk in a passage between old buildings dating from the beginning of the 20th century…
On the way to Rosenthaler Strasse, you have to stop in the Hackesche Höfe.
These are eight tangled courtyards that were built at the beginning of the 20th century with brick facades of all colors, traversed by lush ivy.
There are cafes and small shops, but recently there have been night bars, design galleries and cinemas.
In other words, the area has become ultra-trendy!

In the district, many portals hide courtyards such as the Hackeshe Höfe: on Augustrsasse and on Sophienstrasse for example, many contemporary art galleries present themselves to us.
A little curiosity and we discover nice corners of the city…
