Christ Church Cathedral
Let's start with one of Dublin's most famous places, Christ Church Cathedral. The latter is the oldest building in use in Dublin. Among other things, you can admire a very beautiful crypt, which is also the largest in Ireland.
Saint Patrick's Cathedral
This is Dublin's second cathedral. In addition to the interior which is to be visited, you can also enjoy its pleasant park which is attached.
Dublin Castle
An essential visit to make in Dublin, the Dublin Castel and its pretty garden just behind. This castle offers very beautiful rooms to visit. Some are period while others now host various exhibitions. A very nice visit that we highly recommend.
Dublinia
This museum occupies a wing of Christ Church Cathedral. This wing is connected to the cathedral by a covered bridge which is quite remarkable.
The theme of this museum is the history of Dublin at the time of the Vikings and during the Middle Ages. Realistic reconstructions and very interesting explanations thanks to the touch screens offering subtitles in several languages including French.
A visit that will appeal to both adults and children.
EPIC Museum
The EPIC museum takes you through the history of Dubliners who emigrated over the centuries. Thanks to this museum, you will understand why Irish bars are present throughout the world, and how this culture has spread over the years. A very fun and interesting museum.
Sailboat Jeanie Johnston and Famine Museum
If you do the EPIC museum, plan a visit to this sailboat, located just opposite. This is a replica of an old ship that made the crossing between Dublin and America, in order to flee Ireland during the Great Famine. During the visit, you will learn its history, which ends well unlike other ships of that time.
Guinness Storehouse
Probably the most visited site in Dublin, this museum dedicated to Guinness beer is really very interesting. Over the floors, you will learn everything you need to know about Guinness: its manufacture, its history, the necessary tools, the evolution of advertisements, … The visit ends with a beer or a soft drink at the panoramic bar.
To learn more about this visit, I invite you to read our detailed article: visit the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.
National Museum of Ireland
The National Museum of Ireland is made up of several sites each talking about different themes. With the Dublin City Pass, you can access the following museums:
- the archeology museum
- the museum of history and decorative arts
- the natural history museum
- the National Gallery of Ireland: it presents very beautiful paintings by famous artists such as Caravaggio, Picasso, Rembrandt, …
Jameson Distillery
The Dublin city pass gives you access to the guided tour of the Jameson distillery. It is rather a museum on the history of this whiskey which took place in the old distillery of the brand. Today, whiskey making has been moved to have more space. But the place is full of history and absolutely beautiful. As for the visit, it is really worth the detour. The plays are animated in a very instructive and stunning way.
There are several distilleries to visit in Dublin. To help you prepare for your stay, read this article: Which distillery to visit in Dublin?
Distillerie Teeling
The other flagship distillery to visit in Dublin is that of Teeling whiskey. For once, you will be able to see the production line. It is therefore very interesting to be able to compare the two distilleries.
Teeling is a smaller, family-run house, so you can follow the entire manufacturing process during the visit.
Dublin Zoo
If you're traveling with youngsters, then you might be interested in this Dublin Zoo tour included in the Dublin Pass. This zoo is located in Phoenix Park, at the entrance to this green lung of more than 700 hectares. This zoo has the distinction of being the oldest in Europe. Indeed, it was created in 1831. You can therefore take a tour of it to discover the various reconstituted natural spaces which are home to many wild species, some of which are part of a conservation program.
Tourist bus
Among the activities included in this city pass, you will be able to access the Dublin hop-on hop-off tourist bus for a day. The latter offers a circuit serving all the tourist sites of the city. On board, you can enjoy an audio guide in several languages, including French. As an indication, the non-stop tour lasts approximately 2h15. The bus runs every 15 to 20 minutes.
But one of the advantages of this bus is to be able to get off whenever you want to do the visits and to be able to take a next bus to continue your tour.

Usefulness and alternatives to the Dublin city pass
After this very detailed description of the Dublin city pass, there are two questions you are likely to ask yourself: is this pass really useful? Are there alternatives to this Dublin Pass?
We will answer these two questions in this part.
Is the Dublin Pass really useful?
In order to answer this question correctly, the simplest and most reliable is to compare the price of a city pass with the price that each of the visits would cost if you booked them individually.
1 DAY PASS: 70€
- Jameson Distillery: €25
- Guinness Storehouse : 22€
- Tourist bus: 29€
- Distillerie Teeling : 17€
- TOTAL : 93€
2-DAY PASS: €86
- Day 1: 93€
- Stade Croke Park : 10€
- St. Patrick's Cathedral: €8
- Christ Church Cathedral: €7,50
- Dublinia : 12€
- TOTAL : 130,50€
I think it is not necessary to continue the demonstration with the passes for 3, 4 and 5 days. The conclusion is quite obvious: visits are relatively expensive in Dublin. The pass, on the other hand, is much more affordable. The days of visits presented above are quite feasible over 2 days. They include the main places to visit. But of course, you can spread these visits over longer and in any case, you will be a winner because the most expensive pass, valid for 5 days, is 115€ per person, which is still cheaper than the 2 days of tours offered here.
Is there an alternative to this city pass?
If this pass still hasn't convinced you, you can always book your activities individually on platforms such as Getyourguide or Tiqets.
There is, strictly speaking, no alternative to this city pass. You may be able to find combined tickets which allow you to visit 2 sites with a single ticket, but there is no other city pass in Dublin. These combined tickets can be useful in certain cases:
- you don't stay long in Dublin
- or you don't think you'll visit enough places to make your pass profitable
- otherwise, you take a city pass and you want to devote a day to the visits not included in this pass
Does this pass have any limits?
The Dublin Pass has many advantages: attractive prices, wide variety and diversity of visits, quality of visits, simple and efficient organization, different validity periods and so on!
But like everything, there can be limits. In this case, the main limitation is the fact that some must-see places in Dublin are not included in this pass. I am thinking in particular of Kilmainham prison or Trinity College.
Apart from that, I don't see any other black points to raise for this pass!

My opinion on buying this Dublin city pass
To conclude this article dedicated to the Dublin city pass, I can tell you that it has largely convinced us! Indeed, we went to Dublin for a week and therefore opted for a city pass valid for 5 days. And it was very cushioned. We did the main tours, but we also discovered other tours that we hadn't necessarily thought of at first.
This pass also has a very practical side because it is not necessary to print any document, the simple QR code on the phone is sufficient.
The fact that we had 2 extra days on top of the 5 day city pass allowed us to visit other places not included in the pass and also to get out of Dublin.
Not to mention the very advantageous price in view of the number of visits that are included in the pass. In short, a great experience that we warmly recommend.
