From Porto-Vechio, a long road full of turns and switchbacks, lined with pines and chestnut trees, sometimes encumbered with wild pigs who believe that the greenery is better on the other side of the bitumen strip, climbs gently towards the famous Aiguilles of Bavella.
Needles called Punta di u Pargulu, Punta di a Vacca, Punta di l'Ariettu or Punta di l'Acellu.
How could we best qualify the natural spectacle that is then offered to the eyes of the traveler?
Majestic, proud, wild and impressive, the Aiguilles de Bavella seem to soar towards the sky
The Corsican cretes and the exceptional nature
Only held to the ground by scarves of mist and rare banks of clouds which, as the day goes by, take on all the shades of light.
A true "4-star" site, the Aiguilles de Bavella - made up of porphyry points spared by the quaternary erosion of the glaciers and which can reach 900 m in height - are today the privileged landmark of the bearded vulture and about thirty pairs of golden eagles flying tirelessly over the rocky ridges.
Our Lady of the Snows in the Bavella massif
The starting point for superb hikes for savvy and equipped enthusiasts, the Bavella Massif offers pleasant itineraries to conquer the steep paths, to discover small isolated and authentic villages, to listen to a nature that - maybe- to be even more so than elsewhere in Corsica - it wants to be rich, diverse and ubiquitous at the same time.
Before setting off on a hike, a small salute to Notre-Dame-des-Neiges at the foot of which the ex-votos are piled up, will guarantee the walker an unforgettable and serene stroll...
