An animal park which extends over more than 8 hectares and is home to nearly 3000 animals of 120 different species. The park, built in 2008, welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists each year who come to admire the animals in the park. Valencia Biopark
The Valence Bioparc was therefore created in 2008 following the closure of the old Valence zoo in 2007. Since its opening in 2008, the park has seen more than 500 births, some of which are very rare such as the birth of "Ebo" a baby gorilla.
The park is truly focused on animal welfare. It is also forbidden to feed them. The enclosure barriers are natural like trees, ditches or rivers.
The Valencia biopark has many animal species mainly from Africa. The park is also built in different “regions”:
- Madagascar
You can see fossas there but also walk among lemurs. - dry savannah
The largest of the areas is home to the most impressive animals such as elephants, rhinos and lions. - Wet area
You will find there hippos, crocodiles or other sea birds. - Equatorial Africa
The kingdom of monkeys and gorillas.
Walking through the park you will, for example, have the opportunity to see African elephants, gorillas, hippos, lions or giraffes. One of the peculiarities of this park is that the animals live together as they would in the wild. A choice is, of course, made before but you can, for example, see that the zebras are in the same enclosure as the rhinos.
It is possible to attend various activities offered by the park such as:
- Bathing elephants in the lake
- The meal of animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas or elephants
- Presentation of animals and mammals in an enclosure dedicated to this purpose
- Discussion with the nursing staff
- Cinema: Documentary film on the Bioparc and on the animals

My opinion on the visit to the Bioparc of Valence
The Valencia biopark was a great discovery for me. The park departs a bit from the classic zoo concept by creating larger spaces, sorts of areas where animals live together according to their species. The proximity to certain animals is also very pleasant, especially that of the Madagascar zone. It is possible to spend a good half day without problem in the park, to eat there and to rest there for a few moments. In case of strong heat, it is possible to go to the biopark at the end of the day, it closes at 21 p.m. in summer.
A visit to the biopark will delight all animal enthusiasts, especially the youngest.
