1èr jour : Ayers Rock – Kings Canyon
Depart Ayers Rock at 12:30 PM and travel through the desert landscapes of Australia's 'remote countryside'. Stop to see the incredible Atila (Mt Conner) Mesa, or flat-topped mountain. Continue to the impressive Watarrka National Park, host to the remarkable formation of Kings Canyon and George Gill Ranges.
Overnight accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort – Located just seven kilometers from Watarrka National Park, home to the extraordinary sandstone formation of Kings Canyon. Designed with the utmost sensitivity to the environment, the Resort is a single-storey construction that blends in ideally with the surrounding area while offering a range of quality accommodation. There is a restaurant for fine dining, an affordable cafe, light meals and a barbecue area.
Day 2: A walk on the edge of Kings Canyon – Alice Springs
For the more athletic, enjoy a guided morning walk around the rim of Kings Canyon enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and towering orange walls. Continue through the domed rock formation of "Lost City", then descend into the valley of lush vegetation where the "Garden of Eden" is located (good shoes, a hat and water are essential – the walk takes about three hours and requires a reasonable degree of physical fitness). A walk along the canyon is also available, offering stunning views of the canyon walls looming upstream. Set off for Kings Creek Station, a cattle station, begin to learn a bit about life on a remote country estate. At the beginning of the afternoon, departure for Alice Springs.
