Facade of the Miro Foundation
The Foundation is located in the Parc de Montjuic, in a pleasant setting, away from the bustle of the Rambla. This may be the opportunity to take the Port Vell cable car up to Montjuic and enjoy superb views of the city.
Although Miro's work is disseminated all over the world, the Barcelona Foundation has a representative collection of the artist's work.
Alien sculpture
The various sculptures that adorn the museum garden put visitors in the mood. I particularly liked the alien to the right of the front door.
I also liked the Tapiz sala a lot. Among other things, there is the Carpet of the foundation, made in 1979. This work gives an overview of the diversity of materials and supports used by Miro.
Foundation carpet
The 60s-70s room presents canvases that show the artist´s desire to achieve great intensity with the minimum of means. It is perhaps this period of his work that we know the most: violent colors and clean lines. The art book shop it houses is also interesting and the restaurant, with terrace and garden, is an opportunity for a quiet break. The Miró Foundation is not to be missed during a stay in Barcelona.
