Many travelers dream of traveling all over the United States. But given the distances, the journey can quickly turn out to be expensive. The booking site Booking.com has therefore scrutinized hotel prices to develop a standard calendar with the cheapest American destinations each month of the year.
The study analyzed the average nightly rate for four-star accommodation in popular cities in the United States. Apart from these pricing issues, the international platform has also taken into account local events as well as the climate. The result is a calendar with the twelve American cities to visit, without breaking the bank (but for that, you will not see cities like Washington, Miami or Seattle…).
1. Los Angeles in January
The week after December 31 is the cheapest. The price is 33% lower than the most expensive week in the city of angels, or 212 dollars (around 194 euros).
2. Honolulu in February
Head to the Hawaiian Islands to visit the capital and escape the winter. February is the best time to visit the 50th state in the United States. The budget per night is 206 dollars (around 190 euros), which is 40% less than during New Year's week.
3. Flagstaff in March
At the dawn of European spring, the city in the state of Arizona is a good idea. Tourists are less numerous at this time of the year. Flagstaff is already a cheap stopover on Route 66, but this period offers the best prices. The first week of March, you can expect to get a night at 84 dollars (around 77 euros), which is 38% less than during the most expensive week of the year.
4. Chicago on April
Count 143 dollars (about 131 euros) a night in Chicago in April. You will save 54% of the most expensive amount. The season is mild and even ideal for enjoying the third largest city in the United States.
5. Fort Lauderdale in May
The “Venice of America” is offered at the best time when the month of May begins. Temperatures are high while tourists are few. A night in four-star accommodation, according to Booking.com's rating, costs $ 162 (about $ 149) on average, in the second week of May. It is also a good choice for a change from the must-see Miami to Florida.
6. San Antonio in June
Plan on $ 164 (around 150 euros) per night in the city of San Antonio. This rate is 30% lower than during the most expensive week of the year there. It's also a good base just an hour's drive from the Texas capital, Austin, which will reserve much lower prices.
7. Boston in July
The capital of Massachusetts forces travelers to budget to explore the surrounding area. It is better to plan a passage in summer to benefit from an average price of 265 dollars (about 243 euros), or 31% less than in October, which shows 384 dollars (about 352 euros).
8. New York in August
The Big Apple offers itself in the best possible way in the middle of summer. In the last week of the month, visitors can expect to pay $ 235 (around $ 215), which is 39% less than in September. The season is also conducive to musical events since a stage is installed in Central Park.
9. Orlando in September

10. New Orleans in October
Halloween is a good occasion to visit New Orleans, the capital of Louisiana. Go for the last week where you'll find average rates of $ 202 (around 185 euros) per night.
11. San Francisco in November

12. Las Vegas in December
