The first stop is at the Benedictine monastery of Montserrat, founded in the 11th century. The Montserrat mountains provide a mystical backdrop for the Virgin of Montserrat, patroness of Catalonia, who is venerated in sanctuary in the Royal Basilica Monastery.
While in Montserrat, you will be transported to the top of the mountain by the cogwheel train for panoramic views, and enjoy the audio-visual presentation of the monastery, Montserrat Portes Endins (History of Montserrat).
Next you will travel to cosmopolitan Sitges, which was a meeting place for Modernist writers, musicians, critics, sculptors and painters in the 1980s and has been called the Mecca of Modernism.
