This is a full day guided tour of hidden beauty spots and gardens in central London. This tour can be considered private as we will travel by London taxi from garden to garden with some walking. The beautiful hidden gardens of the Inns of Court as well as the incredible Chelsea Physic Garden are part of the excursion. All entrances to the gardens are included as well as a lovely afternoon tea in the Kensington Palace Orangery.
Meet your guide at 9:30 AM in Trafalgar Square. The first stop is the charming rose garden at the Artists' Church, designed by Inigo Jones. Also see the church itself, built in a classic Italian style. Due to its location in the West End, many artists have worshiped here. Hence its name.
Then stroll through Covent Garden past the Opera House to nearby Lincoln's Inn Fields, arguably London's largest square. Here we will visit the fascinating John Soane Museum, named after the great Victorian architect. There's a lot to see here, including its interiors, antiques, and Hogarth prints. Go to the Inns of Court and their charming hidden gardens.
A taxi takes you to the London Garden Museum, near Lambeth Palace. Here you'll see charming embroidery beds and have the opportunity to take a well-deserved tea/coffee break (own expense) to sample some of the homemade pastries available in the café. After the break, head to one of the highlights of the excursion, the Chelsea Physic Garden. Take an internal local tour of the garden to learn about the famous medicinal uses of plants and flowers. After a leisurely visit, head to Kensington Palace and its Orangery for a traditional English tea. Then we will take the time to visit the beautiful garden below. The tour usually ends here and participants are free to wander around the souvenir shop.
