Celebrate Christmas Day on a tour of the beautiful English countryside. You'll visit Canterbury, enjoy a delicious traditional Christmas meal, see the White Cliffs of Dover, and then take a guided tour of Greenwich. Soak up the holiday spirit of three historic English towns and enjoy a traditional Christmas meal in the charming old town of Canterbury.
After your morning pickup, you'll begin your festive tour with a drive to Canterbury. The ancient city of Canterbury was the center of Christian worship for nearly 1.700 years. Its greatest treasure is the cathedral, famous for its role in the brutal assassination of Thomas Beckett in 1170. When Henry II said "Who will rid me of this rambunctious priest?", four of his knights came to the cathedral and cut off Beckett's head.
Your guide will share this and other stories of Canterbury with you, as this historic city became the center of one of the most important medieval pilgrimages in Europe, immortalized by Geoffrey Chaucer in The Canterbury Tales. Being in Canterbury, you will have the chance to benefit from Christmas services in the cathedral (subject to cathedral service timings). Then it's time to sit down, relax and enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner, including a traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, and a delicious Christmas pudding – it's also a great place to open Christmas presents. !
After your visit to Canterbury, the tour will continue to the White Cliffs of Dover. In the afternoon, you will visit the Greenwich Maritime where you will see Cutty Sark – the fastest sailing vessel of its time before returning to London.
