Your tour of Cordoba begins with a visit to the Catholic Cathedral, converted from a mosque when the Christians conquered Cordoba in 1236. With almost 1000 pillars, the original Gothic cathedral is combined with Baroque elements and the Renaissance. You will see the remarkable Chapelle Cardinal and its treasures, including an ivory crucifix and important carvings and paintings.
Then you will visit the old Jewish quarter, step back in time to the times of the Romans and the Goths. You will see one of the few existing synagogues in Spain today, built in 1315, as well as many important monuments to the sons of the most important of Cordoba, including the Roman philosopher Seneca, the Arab philosopher Averroes and the Jewish philosopher Maimonides.
