The Pedra Bonita hiking excursion requires light physical effort and will take you to the top, which is a natural vantage point with one of the most spectacular views in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Your tour begins at Tijuca National Park where you will hike to the top of Pedra Bonita, which is a natural viewpoint 2200 feet (693 m) above sea level and located in Sector C of the park.
During the tour, your guide will take you for a hike on the Agulhinha Gavea path, a natural foothill area with a magnificent view of the Dois Irmaos hill, up to Pedra Bonita. Once you reach the top of Pedra Bonita, you can admire magnificent landscapes. You can see Pedra da Gávea in all its glory, between the beaches of Barra da Tijuca and São Conrado. All this, combined with the vastness of the Tijuca Forest as a backdrop, which offers the best view and a place of peace and beauty.
Due to its location, the Pedra Bonita area has the only hang gliding site in the city of Rio de Janeiro from where you can have fun descending by hang gliding or paragliding. The hang gliding site has a large grandstand from where you can watch take-offs and take great photos.
The total duration of the hike is around 4 hours and is the perfect way for those who want to hike through the forest and be amazed by one of the most beautiful panoramas over the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Keep in mind that if you choose the normal option, the meeting point is at the grandstand at the hang gliding site as this is the only place in the area with cell phone service. To reach the site, you will need to go to the second parking lot and take the stairs on your left, where you will find the take-off area.
