Departing from Barcelona, you will head straight to Montserrat to visit the Royal Basilica where the famous 12th century statue of the Black Madonna sits. At 13 pm on weekdays there is the possibility of hearing one of the oldest children's choirs in Europe, the Escolania de Montserrat. While you are here you will have time to visit the fascinating Museum of Montserrat, go for a walk or a ride on the cog railway or funicular up the mountain.
In the afternoon, leave Montserrat and visit one of the most famous wine producers in the Penedès region, Freixenet. Visit their cellars with an extensive sample of products and learn why this sparkling wine has gained international fame.
