Walk among groups of wild kangaroos. Visit a forest in a National Park that is home to a large and healthy population of wild koalas. The Koala Research Project ensures that on most days you can spot several of these adorable creatures.
Very accessible from Melbourne's city centre, these surroundings provide the perfect introduction to Australia's unique wildlife and indigenous culture. The area you pass through shows the great importance of the Indigenous Peoples and the Wathaurong Tribe. Freshwater lakes and nearby billabongs provided a rich source of food for them, and some signs of their occupation still remain. Your guide will share their knowledge with you.
You will be served a picnic lunch, al fresco in the sanctuary, including fruit and cakes, coffee and delicious Australian 'Billy tea'.
Nature Expert Guide:
You will be led on this journey by a friendly, nature-savvy and knowledgeable guide. Many hours of research precede the tour to ensure you see and learn about native wildlife in their natural environment. The guides carry radios which connect them to the Office and the emergency services.
Easy walk:
Although this tour is by vehicle, most of the day is spent outside the vehicle on flat ground, with bush walks so you can enjoy nature. Passengers must be able to walk unaided at least 500 meters on uneven ground surfaces. There may be up to 5 steps during the tour.
