Departing from Barcelona, you will head to Girona, a city with a long history, believed to have been founded around 76 BC. The Onyar River sharply divides the city in two, separating the old town from the new. The city has a rich architectural heritage and you can see evidence in the cathedral of its founding in 1038, the Roman walls which you can walk along when they are open or stroll through the narrow streets of the old town.
Continue to the Sanctuary of the Angels. This location offers a panoramic view of the whole region of Girona, it is the place that Salvador Dali chose for his wedding. From here you can go to Pals, a small town that grew out of a fortress. Stop here for lunch before heading to the fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell.
The clean lines of the whitewashed houses are evident here and you will have time to explore the rocky coast or perhaps even take a dip in the inviting waters before returning to Barcelona.
