You will board a luxury coach very early in the early afternoon and travel east from Yulara through Curtin Springs and see Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance. Continuing east from Erldunda, you will turn North on the famous Stuart Road traveling to the town at the very heart of the Red Centre, Alice Springs.
As you pass through the remarkable scenery of the remote countryside, your driver/guide will provide informative and entertaining commentary. You will learn about the geological history of the region, the unique flora and fauna of the Australian desert, and some of the traditional customs and beliefs of the indigenous peoples who have inhabited these lands for over 20.000 years.
You will also see groves of desert oak trees, many of which are hundreds of years old. These intriguing trees survive this harsh climate by sinking their roots deep into the earth to harness water from the groundwater table, remaining inert on the surface until water is found.
You will pass by the imposing MacDonnell Range, another example of this fascinating geological evolution of this region. This 500 million year old mass of quartzite is known as one of central Australia's most dominant geomorphologies, and it is riddled with deep gorges and chasms.
