The City District (CBD)
The City district is the center of business, administration, and the best shopping in the city. The pedestrianized main street, Queen Street, lined with palm trees and shops, is the main artery of the city.
From there, the grid of the CBD follows precise rules: all the parallel streets bear the names of the great English queens and all the perpendicular streets the names of the kings.
The South Bank area
From Queen Street, cross the Brisbane River thanks to the metro-catamarans that crisscross the city, the famous "citycats", and you will discover the South Bank district.
The area is also entirely pedestrian, and very lively. Here you can bathe in the aptly named "Beach Street", because artificial freshwater beaches and fine Queensland sand have been installed opposite the CBD.
Cafes, bars, cuisines from all countries, will allow you to eat with your feet in the water with ibises and parrots.
Many other districts, West end, Fortitude Valley, New Farm, Kangaroo Point, concentrate the major activities of the city.
Around, Brisbane is made up of huge residential areas where the "queenslanders" are lined up, wooden houses on stilts with verandas, terraces and small gardens, architecture typical of Queensland landscapes.
From Brisbane, several one or two-day expeditions are possible: the largest Koala reserve in Australia, the Koala Pine sanctuary (accessible in half a day), the beaches of North Stradbroke Island and Byron Bay.
