Enjoy the panorama from the top of the British Airways i360 Tower
It is on the beach of the seaside resort of Brighton, in the south of England, that the Tour British Airways i360 was inaugurated in August 2016. It allows its visitors to climb vertically to more than 130m above sea level to appreciate the coastal landscape.
This tower, nicknamed the Donut because of the characteristic shape of its cabin, was designed by the architects of London's iconic wheel, the London Eye.
A 360-degree panoramic view of Brighton and the surrounding area
Its circular glass observation cabin takes on a futuristic feel, especially as it climbs the tower it is attached to. Once at its maximum altitude, at 138 meters, it offers 360-degree panoramic views of Brighton, the South Downs and the Sussex coast.
During the day, it takes approximately 20 minute round trip, but the duration extends to 30 minutes after 18 p.m., when the cabin turns into a Sky Bar, where local sparkling wines are offered.
A panoramic AND ecological tower
The inauguration of this tower is coming ten years after the emergence of the idea for this concept, fruit of the work and the imagination of a couple: David Marks and Julia Barfield.
It should be noted that this tower is also ecological, it works only on renewable energy, the descent of the cabin generating half of the energy necessary for the ascent of the latter.
Finally, it should be noted that we find at the foot of this building, on the beach, three different catering options : a restaurant, a tea room and a bistro with a terrace directly overlooking the pier. There is also a children's play area and a shop.
