Discover the famous Corcovado of Rio de Janeiro in the most exhilarating way possible, on foot! With an experienced guide, set out to climb this landform on a 2-hour hike that takes you from the rainforests to its ridge, where you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the city and Guanabara Bay. You'll also have the opportunity to admire Rio's iconic statue, Christ the Redeemer, up close.
After pickup from your Rio de Janeiro hotel in an air-conditioned minivan, you'll head to the base of Corcovado to begin your 2,4 km ascent. Your professional guide will explain the hike to you in advance and give you some tips before you set off!
Your starting point is Lage Park, a public park where you can see palm trees over a century old and an Italianate-style building from the 1920s that now houses an art school. Start the ascent with your guide, through the lush vegetation of the coastal tropical forest. After about 2,5 hours (including breaks along the way), you will arrive at the top of Corcovado — at an altitude of 710 meters — from where the view of Rio and its surroundings is breathtaking (s' you have some left!).
At the top, admire Christ the Redeemer up close, snap photos of the breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay, then take a few minutes of well-deserved rest. Then return to the track to begin your descent back to the starting point, Lage Park, and be driven back to your Rio hotel.
