You've explored the reef, now have a leisurely day exploring the rainforest on a day trip to Daintree from Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas. Upon arrival at the beautiful Mossman Gorge, you will meet your native guide for a relaxing XNUMX hour walk. You'll see culturally significant sites, pass through traditional bark shelters, and cross clear streams of cool rainforest. Your guide will introduce you to many aspects of traditional Aboriginal culture, including bush food, Dreamtime stories, and the use of herbal medicines. They will also do a fascinating story about the rainforest and their personal relationship with the environment.
The guided walk will take you along easy routes and is suitable for all fitness levels, but it is not suitable for wheelchairs, walkers etc. After your walk, you'll stop for tea and a break, with the chance to ask your local guide more questions about their tribe and the area.
Continue your day in Daintree with a short historic visit to Mossman, Australia's most northerly sugar town, on the way to Silky Oaks for lunch. Satisfy your appetite with a delicious barramundi lunch awaiting you at this oasis in the middle of the rainforest overlooking the Mossman River. After lunch you will board a boat for a cruise on the Daintree River. This relaxing one-hour cruise is a great way to spot local wildlife including birds, tree snakes, and of course the fearsome saltwater crocodile.
