Today, as summer vacation approaches, I'm going to tell you about one of my favorite countries in Europe: Spain. Indeed, with Italy, Spain is a country that I particularly appreciate. After two trips to Andalusia, I am preparing to discover its capital, Madrid, as well as its third largest city: Valencia.
In this article I will tell you about 5 places to spend your summer holidays in Spain. Spain is a popular destination for many holidaymakers who go there for its countless advantages: beaches, nature, culture, gastronomy and above all weather, Spain has everything to please and to make you spend the perfect holiday.
Spain also offers a wide choice of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets.
Barcelona and its region
In Barcelona, you can take advantage of the proximity to the sea and the many advantages of a large Spanish city. We walk in the old quarter of the Barri gotic, the historic heart of the city to discover its medieval streets, its museums, its cathedral… We have fun at the Boqueria market before enjoying the beach. We let off steam in the park Güell, an amazing garden city before admiring the unique collection of the Miro Foundation.
You can also leave the city to discover Catalonia. From Alella with its rich cultural heritage and numerous festivals, to Sant Miquel del Fai, in the Vall del Tenes to discover an exceptional Natural Park, passing through the copper museum, unique in Europe, in the Masies de Voltrega, the wonders are countless. .
Mediterranean coast of Andalusia
Let's now go to Andalusia, to the south of this region on its Mediterranean coast. The beaches of Andalusia are popular every year with tourists who come to enjoy the seaside or are passing through on a road trip in Andalusia. The main town on this coast is none other than Malaga. A city that combines history with its must-see places such as the Alcazaba or its castle Gibralfaro but also relaxation with its seafront.
Other very touristy towns on this Andalusian coast: Marbella. Marbella is the main seaside resort in Andalusia and has a large number of hotel complexes of all kinds.
Andalusia, inland
If you are not very "beach" then the interior of the Andalusian lands could suit you better. Indeed Andalusia has cities to visit at all costs such as Seville, Cordoba or even Grenada and those famous gardens of the Alhambra. In addition to the cities, Andalusia has many of the most pleasant natural parks for nature walks, the most famous being: The King's Path, a via ferrata path completely renovated a few years ago which is truly worth the detour.
Also discover the white villages like Ronda, the cradle of bullfighting. Small inconvenience, in summer the temperatures inland can very quickly fly away, at times exceeding 40 degrees.
Majorca
Majorca is an island full of charm, perfect for an authentic stay, in a wild nature or to enjoy very pleasant beaches. Limestone cliffs, translucent waters on the west coast and black but also huge fields of olive or almond trees, hiking trails are part of the decor. We follow the scenic route from Sa Calobra, we visit Deia, a charming village before marveling at the cathedral of Palma. Mallorca is a delight for lovers of seafood and grilled fish as well as for the practice of various water sports. Mallorca is a top destination if you are looking to stay in a villa in Spain to spend your holidays with friends or family. The island has a wide choice of accommodation.
Bilbao and its region
Bilbao is home to many narrow streets, the Gran Via, but also the New Bilbao. We contemplate it from the heights to get an idea of how it settled around a Ria and become a major port. Green valleys, traditional houses, coasts with many coves, Bilbao and its region allow you to enjoy varied landscapes. Lovers of beaches, nature reserves or superb monuments will be seduced by this diversity. Bilbao is a pleasant and dynamic city with many pintxo bars, bodegas where to eat before strolling through a city always ready to party. We admire the Old Town, the arcades of Plaza Nueva, the famous museum Guggenheim before heading to Getxo, a small seaside town, the nature reserve d’Urdaibai ou San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a perfect peninsula for hiking.
